Yarn Weight Measuring Tool

When yarn labels are missing—or when you’re working with handspun, hand-dyed, or leftover yarn—a wraps per inch gauge helps you identify the yarn’s weight and thickness with confidence in two simple ways: Wrap your yarn neatly around the inch-wide notch end to end and count the wraps to determine wraps per inch (WPI). Or, lay the yarn into the etched grooves to see which standard yarn weight it corresponds to.

Finished with a small, unclaspable ball chain, it’s easy to clip onto a project bag for quick access!
