With a row counter, it's easy to keep track of your rows - so you always know how many you have knitted. Push the button every time you have knitted a row to count them and reset the counter by turning the gears on the sides.
The row counter can count to 99, and it has a locking mechanism at the bottom to make sure no rows are accidentally counted.
