Knitting for Olive's fingering-weight merino is extremely versatile. You can knit it alone, hold it double-stranded, or pair it with a complimentary yarn like mohair.
Merino also has many amazing properties including being temperature regulating, sweat wicking, and dirt repellant - it's also one of the softest types of wool available, making it perfect for handknit garments and accessories that are going to be close to the skin.

HOW IT'S MADE
This merino wool comes from sheep bred in Patagonia, where mulesing is not practiced. The wool can be traced directly back to the farm it comes from. It is then produced in Italy, in a spinning mill that follows ethical, technical and environmental standards, creating yarns free from harmful chemicals. As with all Knitting for Olive yarns, this yarn is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified.
PROJECT IDEAS
We think this yarn suits winter accessories like hats, mitts, gloves, balaclavas, or scarves. You can pair it with a cotton for some warm but breathable garments, or with a mohair to add some fluff and warmth to your project. We also think a pair of socks would look beautiful in this yarn, but be aware that merino is a more delicate wool and anything getting alot of harsh wear will eventually need darning.
