Originally named ÅLJ after knitwear designer Åse Lund Jensen, this yarn was developed by Åse and Danish spinning mill Henrichsens Uldspinderi in the 1960s, out of a need for a lighter-weight yarn.

Still being made by Isager today, Jensen is a 3-ply yarn, which is firm and evenly spun, well suited for textured stitches. The yarn is very durable and wears beautifully over time.

HOW IT'S MADE

Isager holds high standards for animal welfare, sustainability, and environmental impact. Their yarns come from farms where mulesing is not practiced, and their dye and chemical usage adhere to Denmark and Europe's strict requirements regarding toxic chemicals, dyes, and waste.

The white wool in Jensen origins from New Zealand, and the brown and grey wools used for the s-colours origin from Gotland sheep in Europe. The supplier in New Zealand is a brand partner of the Wool Integrity programme that ensures the principles under this programme such as an animal welfare, environmental sustainability and tracability are met. All of Jensen's colours are Oekotex 100 colours from Europe, but since the spinning mill in Skive has not been certified, the product can’t carry the Oekotex 100 label.
