Heavy Merino | Knitting for Olive
- HOW IT'S MADE
- PROJECT IDEAS
This worsted weight merino from Knitting for Olive is the big sister to their regular Merino. Because it's thicker and knits up faster, it's the perfect 'everyday' yarn for garments and accessories alike. You can even hold it with a strand of mohair to add a beautiful fuzzy halo to your project.
Merino also has many amazing properties including being temperature regulating, sweat wicking, and dirt repellant - it's also one of the softest types of wool available, making it perfect for handknits that are going to be close to the skin.

This merino wool comes from sheep bred in Patagonia, where mulesing is not practiced. The wool can be traced directly back to the farm it comes from. It is then produced in Italy, in a spinning mill that follows ethical, technical and environmental standards, creating yarns free from harmful chemicals. As with all Knitting for Olive yarns, this yarn is STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified.
Heavy Merino is the perfect yarn for that wear-it-everyday sweater. It's also a great yarn for beginners because it's a nice thick worsted weight and it's easy to knit with - you'll be able to clearly see what you're doing, and it won't slip off your needles easily. Many projects would suit this yarn, including cardigans, sweaters, vests, scarves, hats, and mitts!
