VSB Fiber Braid - Emily C Gillies
- HOW IT'S MADE
- PROJECT IDEAS
These beautiful fiber braids are locally hand-dyed, and perfect for avid spinners out there!
Versatile Strong Blend (or VSB) is a mix of Romney and Bluefaced Leicester wools, as well as Mohair and Tussah silk. The resulting fiber braid has the heartiness and warmth of wool, the strength and fluffiness of mohair, and the sheen and softness of silk. The fiber is blended five times for an even spinning experience.
CONTENT: 50% Romney, 25% Bluefaced Leiceser, 12.5% Tussah Silk, 12.5% Mohair
UNIT WEIGHT: 100g
PLEASE NOTE: These braids are hand-dyed, so no two braids are exactly the same. If you'd like to see what variation of colours we have in stock, please contact us here.
This commercially combed top is processed in the UK from Romney wool, Bluefaced Leicester wool, Tussah silk, and mohair. It is then hand-dyed by Emily C Gillies in her local Halifax studio using acid dyes.
You can use these fiber braids for spinning, wet felting, needle felting, or thrumming! You can also follow the gradient of colours already in the braid, or you can mix the colours up to create your own gradient/pattern. VSB is strong enough to be spun into durable yarns, but soft enough with ample drape for gorgeous shawls and sweaters.
