BFL/Silk Fiber Braid - Emily C Gillies
- HOW IT'S MADE
- PROJECT IDEAS
These beautiful fiber braids are locally hand-dyed, and perfect for avid spinners out there!
BFL/Silk is a blend of Bluefaced Leicester wool and Tussah silk. Ribbons of silk run throughout the braid, providing sheen and texture. And BFL is a wool known for its long staple length, which means it provides lovely drape and durability. The resulting fiber braid is strong, soft, and lustrous.
CONTENT: 70% Bluefaced Leiceser, 30% Tussah Silk
UNIT WEIGHT: 100g
MICRON COUNT: 26 microns

PLEASE NOTE: These braids are hand-dyed, so no two braids are exactly the same. If you'd like to see what variation of colours we have in stock, please contact us here.
This commercially combed top is processed in the UK from Bluefaced Leicester wool and Silk. It is then hand-dyed by Emily C Gillies in her local Halifax studio using acid dyes.
You can use these fiber braids for spinning, wet felting, needle felting, or thrumming! You can also follow the gradient of colours already in the braid, or you can mix the colours up to create your own gradient/pattern. You can spin a beautiful fine yarn with this fiber because of the long staple length the BFL wool offers.
